Volunteering as a Friend

Our group of Friends provide wonderful support, both financially and in kind. Without them the Geelong Botanic Gardens would not be the place it is today.

There are about 520 Friends and many of them volunteer on a regular basis as growing friends, teahouse volunteers, guides, developing the herbaceous border or caring for the roses.

The various Friends' groups are often able to contribute to the greater community through special projects, e.g. the Growers' assistance to Marysville locals with re-vegetation projects following the 2009 bushfires.

As a social group the Friends also enjoy special excursions locally and within the state, illustrated talks and lectures from experts in horticultural matters and a range of discounts on Friends' activities and selected businesses.

Find more information about becoming a Friend and volunteer, keep reading this website and consider visiting the membership page and downloading the membership forms.

Occasional Volunteering

Many Friends do not have time to volunteer regularly but would like to help occasionally. If you are one of these you can contact the Friends Office to register your interest and can then be contacted when volunteers are needed for one–off events.
